The Street 1 kit from Pedders contains 3 of the most important Bushings for the GTO. The Most important upgrade that any GTO can be given is the Radius Rod Bushings (EP9166), these bushings in stock form will allow the wheels to move 2.5" or more in the wheel well when braking. This movement can cause braking wander, steering vagueness, clunking, severe tire wear, and an overall sloppy feel. This can all be replaced with just this one bushing.
The next upgrade is the Street 1 kit is the rear Sub Frame Bushings. The rear subframe is a triangular assembly mounted by two large rubber bushings at the forward mount points, and one large rubber mount on the rear center point on the differential cover. The bushings are soft, and allow a lot of movement, as well as slop and a disconnected feeling. You can feel the movement when doing slalom maneuvers, and acceleration and deceleration. Once these bushings are upgraded with the EP1145 Sub Frame Bushings, and the EP1157 Differential Insert, you will feel a dramatic improvement in wheel hop, acceleration and deceleration responsiveness, cornering stability, and just an overall improvement in the ride of the GTO.
This kit is easy enough for an average home mechanic to do in under 2 hours, air tools are a big help as the rear sub frame bushing can be very very stubborn to remove.
